PEP Fall Gala
Programs for Exceptional People’s annual Fall Gala will take place Saturday, October 8 at the newly remodeled Sea Pines Country Club. This extraordinary event presented by Harbour Health Insurance Solutions will begin at 6:00p.m. with cocktails, an exciting silent auction and live music by The Sand Piper Quartet. The evening will continue with a seated Surf & Turf Dinner. Dinner will be followed by a live auction with enticing items. Tickets for this PEP fund-raiser are $75 per person and can be purchased at PEP located at 10 Oak Park Drive on Hilton Head Island. Platinum Sponsors are Hargray Communications, CareCore National, SunTrust Bank and Bluffton Today. Live auction items will include: 1 week on Cape Cod; 1 week in Beaver Creek, Co; 1 week in Palmetto Dunes, HHI; and 1 week at Seven Springs Ski Resort in PA. Heineken with a Heart: A Benefit for PEP

Outback Steakhouse of Bluffton and Heineken are sponsoring Heineken with a Heart as a benefit for Programs for Exceptional People. It will take place Tuesday, May 17, 6:00-9:00p.m. at the Outback Steakhouse of Bluffton. For $20 participants will be able to enjoy ice cold Heineken brand beer and sample Outback appetizers. The entire $20 will go directly to PEP in support of its programs for adults with special needs. The Broad Creek Rum Runners will be performing live music. The Art of Massage will be offering free chair massages and donating their tips to PEP. There will also be a raffle with many great prizes! Come support PEP and enjoy this “party with a purpose!”

Make Plans Now to be a part of PEP’s 2nd Annual Last Oyster Roast of the Season!
PEP is sponsoring its 2nd Annual Last Oyster Roast of the Season Saturday, April 2 from 5:30p.m.-8:00p.m. on the banks of the scenic May River at Bluffton Oyster Company. Tickets are $25 each for all the oysters, chili and iced tea you can enjoy. Beer, wine and sodas will be available at an additional cost. The Islandeers will be providing live music. Get your tickets at PEP (10 Oak Park Drive, HHI), HHI and Bluffton Walgreens Pharmacies or Bluffton Oyster Company. Support PEP in Birdies for Charity
• The Heritage Golf Tournament is April 18-24, 2011. Birdies for Charity is a special fundraising program made available to area nonprofit organizations who register. The Heritage Classic Foundation generously contributes an additional amount based on the monies each charity raises.

• Programs for Exceptional People is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower adults with special needs in southern Beaufort County by promoting independence and offering opportunities for social growth and maturity. PEP provides skills training and programs in the areas of employment, utilization of community resources, independent living and the opportunity for community inclusion and socialization.

• PLEASE consider completing the attached Birdies for Charity Pledge Form and return it to Programs For Exceptional People as soon as possible or by April 15, 2011. Please remember to designate Programs For Exceptional People and consider pledging 5,10 or 25 cents per birdie.

Pottery Workshop For New Volunteers
There will be a pottery workshop for individuals interested in possibly volunteering with the PEP Pottery program. The pottery workshop will take place Wednesday, February 2 from 10:00a.m.-2:00p.m. at Programs for Exceptional People (PEP). PEP is located at 10 Oak Park Drive, Building C-1 on Hilton Head Island. PEP is seeking several additional volunteers to help with the PEP Pottery program and is particularly interested in individuals who have had some experience in hand building and molds. PEP Pottery To Be Featured At The Mall
The PEP Potters will be displaying and selling their handcrafted pottery in the Commons Area of The Mall at Shelter Cove Saturday, January 22 from 9:30a.m.-3:30p.m. Each piece of pottery is unique and made by an adult with intellectual and developmental disabilities. PEP Pottery makes special, economical gifts and it is also a great addition to the home with a variety of uses. Come out and visit the PEP Potters Saturday, January 22 at The Mall at Shelter Cove.

PEP Begins 16th Year of Service
As 2011 begins Programs for Exceptional People is beginning its 16th year of providing programs and services to adults with special needs in southern Beaufort County. Please remember Programs for Exceptional People (PEP) as you make your tax-deductible contributions for 2011. You can now conveniently give online right on PEP’s website or you can mail your contribution in to PEP at 10 Oak Park Drive, Box 2, HHI, SC. Please give generously and help PEP serve adults with special needs!

PEP Receives $2,000 Contribution From Italian American Club
The Italian American Club of Hilton Head Island presented a check to Programs for Exceptional People in the amount of $2,000 at their December 30, 2010 lunch meeting. This was their second contribution to PEP in 2010. PEP is a proud member of the Italian American Club and appreciates the strong commitment that the Italian American Club shows to PEP. In addition to their financial support, the Italian American Club built the BOCCE Court at PEP and several of its members serve as Coaches for the PEP Pirates BOCCE Team! Thank you to the Italian American Club of Hilton Head Island for your support!
